About the Author

Jean Craighead George is the award-winning author of over eighty books for children and young adults. Her novel julie of the wolves won the Newbery Medal in 1973, and she has continued to write acclaimed picture books that celebrate the natural world. Her previous books with Wendell Minor include Everglades, Arctic Sonand Morning, Noon, and Night. Mrs. George lives in Chappaqua, New York.
