Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Dear Reader,

Like handshakes, house pets, or raw carrots, many things are preferable when not slippery. Unfortunately, in this miserable volume, I am afraid that Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire run into more than their fair share of slipperiness during their harrowing journey up — and down — a range of strange and distressing mountains.

In order to spare you any further repulsion, it would be best not to mention any of the unpleasant details of this story, particularly a secret message, a toboggan, a deceitful trap, a swarm of snow gnats, a scheming villain, a troupe of organized youngsters, a covered casserole dish, and a surprising survivor of a terrible fire.

Unfortunately, I have dedicated my life to researching and recording the sad tale of the Baudelaire Orphans. There is no reason for you to dedicate yourself to such things, and you might instead dedicate yourself to letting this slippery book slip from your hands into a nearby trash receptacle, or deep pit.

With all due respect,

Lemony Snicket

Synopsis:

Like bad smells, uninvited weekend guests or very old eggs, there are some things that ought to be avoided.

Snicket's saga about the charming, intelligent, and grossly unlucky Baudelaire orphans continues to alarm its distressed and suspicious fans the world over. The 10th book in this outrageous publishing effort features more than the usual dose of distressing details, such as snow gnats, an organised troupe of youngsters, an evil villain with a dastardly plan, a secret headquarters and some dangerous antics you should not try at home. With the weather turning colder, this is one chilling book you would be better off without.

Synopsis:

Lemony Snicket's woeful stories about the Baudelaire siblings continue with this wretched tenth installment of the bestselling series.

It is an excellent book with lots of detail and originality. As a sequel to "The Carnivorous Carnival" it gives suspense throughout the book and each and every word paints a meaningful picture. I recommend this book to everyone as it is one of the kind.

I highly recommend 'A Series of Unfortunate Events bk. 10' to readers of all ages as it is full of adventure, including numerous passionate scenes, such as Sunny's growing-up scene. Additionally, this book also provides readers with many quotes and ryhmes worth-knowing such as 'Celebrate when you're half-done and the finish won't be half as fun' or 'The sad truth is that the truth is sad,' etc. In summary, my copy of 'The Slippery Slope' is one of my most prized possessions.
