This is a daimond in the rough, who knew that Fannie Flagg could pull this one out? Out of a few good fiction books that dare take on the challange of homosexuality, this is perhaps the best. It doesn't go far into it (doesn't even go into kissing) but just far enough to show that they really care.
But it's not just about that either, it touches on other tough subjects: life, KKK, racism, death, and loss. It's not all serious either, there are humorous moments that will make you laugh or at least snigger, especially Idgie's antics. However, it tends to bounce times from chapter to chapter, so make sure to read the date to figure who's taking or if it's 3rd person.
A good read, for ages 14 to 100+.
