Young Peter wakes up to find that snow has fallen — and he can't wait to go outside and play! Though he's disappointed later when he finds out that he can't save a snowball in his pocket, his sadness melts when he wakes up the next morning to yet another day of snowy fun. Keats's collage-style illustrations are wonderful — especially the sharp contrast of Peter in his red snow suit (with its little pointy hood!) against the snowy landscape. Keats's classic Snowy Day beautifully captures a child's sense of wonder. Recommended by Sheila A., Powells.com

No book has captured the magic and sense of possibility of the first snowfall better than The Snowy Day. Universal in its appeal, the story has become a favorite of millions, as it reveals a child's wonder at a new world, and the hope of capturing and keeping that wonder forever.

My daughter is moving to Ohio with her two young boys who have never seen snow. I read this book to them, and now they are so excited. It's a wonderful book, and the author, Ezra Jack Keats, really knows how childrens minds work. This book will more than likely be replaced a few times over the years.
