Publisher Comments:

Readers captivated by Twilight and New Moon will eagerly devour Eclipse, the much anticipated third book in Stephenie Meyer's riveting vampire love saga.

As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?

Review:

"The legions of readers who are hooked on the romantic struggles of Bella and the vampire Edward will ecstatically devour this third installment of the story begun in Twilight, but it's unlikely to win over any newcomers. Jake, the werewolf met in New Moon, pursues Bella with renewed vigilance. However, when repercussions from an episode in Twilight place Bella in the mortal danger that series fans have come to expect, Jake and Edward forge an uneasy alliance. The plot patterns have begun to show here, but Meyer's other strengths remain intact. The supernatural elements accentuate the ordinary human dramas of growing up. Jake and Edward's competition for Bella feels particularly authentic, especially in their apparent desire to best each other as much as to win Bella. Once again the author presents teenage love as an almost inhuman force: '[He] would have been my soul mate still,' says Bella, 'if his claim had not been overshadowed by something stronger, something so strong that it could not exist in a rational world.' According to Meyer, the fourth book should tie up at least the Edward story, if not the whole shebang. Ages 12-up. (Aug.)" Publishers Weekly (Copyright Reed Business Information, Inc.)

Review:

"Meyer's trilogy seethes with the archetypal tumult of star-crossed passions, in which the supernatural element serves as heady spice." New York Times Sunday Book Review

I like this book because it was very unique, and the ideas were original nothing that was done before.
The book was much better than the movie.

Imagine yourself as a 18 year old girl who's world has been completely twisted by a living fantasy. But do not think of this fantasy as sweet and friendly, instead imagine yourself torn between your best friend who is a werewolf, or the one you feel is your significant other and they happen to be a vampire. Well you have just momentarily stepped into the shoes of Bella Swan, in the book Eclipse, by best selling author Stephenie Meyer. This book is the third book in the Twilight Series. In this mystical and mythical book, Bella Swan struggles to decide if she loves her best friend, Jacob Black, or if she really loves who she feels is her soul mate, Edward Cullen. While this is going on, there are increasing amounts of deaths in the Seattle area, which they soon find out their old vampire enemy, Victoria is behind. Victoria's mate was killed by Edward in the last book (New Moon) and now she is set out to kill Bella to get revenge. In this war, the wolves and vampires will have to put aside their old truce and join forces to defeat this evil vampire. Who wins will be for you to find out! While reading this book, I felt overwhelming emotions such as fear, excitement, and anxiety because of how Stephenie Meyers can paint the image in your mind. To me I feel more like I am watching a movie than reading a book! I believe her intended age group for this book would be from 14 years of age and up, just because of its language and sexual content. Last but not least, I liked how detailed her writing was, how even if you are a guy you could feel Bella's emotions, and how even without tons of cliffhangers you will always want to keep reading! A description of Victoria that I thought was detailed was this passage: " Her eyes were black with thirst. She did not smile, as she always had in my nightmares-her lips were pressed into a tight line. There was a striking feline quality to the way she held her coiled body, a lioness waiting for an opening to spring. Her restless, wild gaze flickered between Edward and me, but never rested on him for more than a half-second. She could not keep her eyes from..." So if your into dramatic teen romance novels with a twist of fantasy, Eclipse would be a great book for you to read!

I'm an old guy with a young heart. I loved all these books. Read them all multiple times. My coined phrase for Bella and Edward is "Purity of Spirit". Willing to give up everything for the one you love. That's crazy cool.
