Publisher Comments:

Gardeners throughout the region will be welcoming a thoroughly updated and fresh-looking edition of the bible of Western gardening. With a new, easy-to-read design, more plant photography, larger illustrations, and more than 8,000 plant listings — 500 of them new — it's the essential book for gardeners in the Western states.

Book News Annotation:

The latest edition of the Sunset guide provides gardeners in the western part of North America--Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, southwestern Canada, Idaho, Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, Montana, Utah, Wyoming--with up-to-date information on some 8,000 plants, keyed to the Sunset Climate Zones. The text is illustrated throughout with color photographs, diagrams, maps and drawings, and includes tips from expert horticulturists, botanists, growers, and professors reflecting changing technologies and plants new to the marketplace. In addition to the A-to-Z encyclopedia of plants, the text contains 30 specialized plant selection guides and an A-to-Z guide to gardening techniques, tools, and basic problem-solving for maintaining a healthy landscape. An excellent guide to gardening. Easy to read. The first part has sections on many different problems you may face gardening (windy areas, arid areas, bugs and pests etc). The second part is an encyclopedia of thousands of different kinds of plants. A necessary reference for any gardener.
