Staff Pick

After leaving her fans on the edge of our seats with Faefever, Karen Marie Moning delivers a stunning follow-up in Dreamfever. Dreamfever continues the saga of MacKayla Lane, a "sidhe-seer" who, unlike normal humans, can see the "fae": immortal creatures of myth and lore that are anxious to regain their place in our world.

Caught by her own naiveté about her true heritage, Dreamfever finds Mac almost completely transitioned from her "southern belle" persona of the previous books into a powerful, intense, and ruthless defender of humankind. From the first, Moning has deftly moved Mac through a range of emotions, shaking her up at every chance, forcing her to mature in a matter of months into a woman who is not only ready to fight to the death to save those she loves, but has the tools to do so.

Moning has done a fabulous job of building anticipation and keeping us waiting breathlessly for the next installment in her Fever series. Each book is a stand-alone story, but also moves the overall story arc along, and Dreamfever is the best yet. Full of action, it answers some questions and opens the door to more while leaving us, as usual, desperately craving the next book in the series.

MacKayla Lane lies naked on the cold stone floor of a church, at the mercy of the erotic Fae master she once swore to kill. Far from home, unable to control her sexual hungers, MacKayla is now fully under the Lord Masters spell.…In New York Times bestselling author Karen Marie Monings stunning new novel, the walls between human and Fae worlds have come crashing down. And as Mac fights for survival on Dublins battle-scarred streets, she will embark on the darkest—and most erotically charged—adventure of her life.

He has stolen her past, but MacKayla will never allow her sisters murderer to take her future. Yet even the uniquely gifted sidhe-seer is no match for the Lord Master, who has unleashed an insatiable sexual craving that consumes Macs every thought—and thrusts her into the seductive realm of two very dangerous men, both of whom she desires but dares not trust.

As the enigmatic Jericho Barrons and the sensual Fae prince Vlane vie for her body and soul, as cryptic entries from her sisters diary mysteriously appear and the power of the Dark Book weaves its annihilating path through the city, Macs greatest enemy delivers a final challenge.…

Its an invitation Mac cannot refuse, one that sends her racing home to Georgia, where an even darker threat awaits. With her parents missing and the lives of her loved ones under siege, Mac is about to come face-to-face with a soul-shattering truth—about herself and her sister, about Jericho Barrons…and about the world she thought she knew.

This book and the author are very disappointing.
After the story, which was more filler then anything, the author became very self-indulgent and tooted her own horn about how great she is and her series. She then devotes a page to trying to sell more stuff devoted to fever world. I used to be a huge fan and I put an emphasis on the words USED TO. I was a member of the forum, but have stopped going as the author and her staff seem to have become consumed with the almighty dollar.
The book itself lacked. If you are at all familiar with the Anita Blake series after Obsidian Butterfly, that is what this book reminded me of. Mindless meaningless sex. The author contradicts herself in this book from the past in the series. I know I will not be buying another book from this author ever again. She seems to have forgotten that the story is what fans want, not a bunch of extra crap. We want answers not filler. I have spoken with other x fans and all my friends that have read all her books agree, it seems she has sold out for the money.
Needless to say Moning is loosing fans at an alarming rate. Such a shame.

Great follow up to the third book in this one, Ms. Moning redeems the ending of the third book and in this we learn just why the ending of book 3 was so important.
Waiting for the 5th book!
