Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

From "the funniest important writer in America" (Miami Herald) comes a tale that is gleefully zany and incisively sharp and now available in trade paperback for the first time.

Synopsis:

In his latest "New York Times" bestseller, Hiaasen introduces impassioned, possibly bipolar, self-proclaimed "queen of lost causes" Honey Santana, who schemes to help rid the world of irresponsibility, indifference, and dinnertime sales calls.

About the Author

Carl Hiaasen was born and raised in Florida. He is the author of thirteen previous novels, including Skinny Dip, Sick Puppy, Stormy Weather, Basket Case, and, for young readers, Flush and Hoot. He also writes aregularcolumn for The Miami Herald.

I don't know why anyone would bother to watch reality TV when there are Carl Hiassen novels. They have all the same elements - crazed amoral characters, improbable situations, injury, humiliation, and mayhem. WIth the added benefits of plot, good grammar and a healthy dose of environmentalism. This book is very similar to his others - if you like his novels you'll like this one. I'm always impressed by Hiassen's obvious love and respect for his native land, and his extensive understanding of the history and politics that created the Florida of today
