Publisher Comments:

As moving as his bestselling works of fiction, Nicholas Sparks's unique memoir, written with his brother, chronicles the life-affirming journey of two brothers bound by memories, both humorous and tragicIn January 2003, Nicholas Sparks and his brother, Micah, set off on a three-week trip around the globe. It was to mark a milestone in their lives, for at thirty-seven and thirty-eight respectively, they were now the only surviving members of their family. Against the backdrop of the wonders of the world and often overtaken by their feelings, daredevil Micah and the more serious, introspective Nicholas recalled their rambunctious childhood adventures and the tragedies that tested their faith. And in the process, they discovered startling truths about loss, love, and hope.Narrated with irrepressible humor and rare candor, and including personal photos, THREE WEEKS WITH MY BROTHER reminds us to embrace life with all its uncertainties...and most of all, to cherish the joyful times, both small and momentous, and the wonderful people who make them possible.

I've read quite a few of Nicholas Sparks' books, but have never read one that had such an impact on me. Yes, he goes on a three week trip around the world with his brother, but the story revolves around their relationship from their earliest childhood, until the end of their trip. It's a true story of their survival, loves, jealousy, losses and more loss, yet retaining a solid, unconditional love between them that will remain until they die. This is by far the best book that Nicholas and his brother Micah Sparks has written. He give so much insight into what shaped his life and his relationships with all the people in his and his brother's life and how, in the end, they came out whole and alive.

I've only read one other book by Nicholas Sparks and although it kept me interested there was something about his writing style that didn't gel with me. Having read Three Weeks with My Brother, however, my opinion of him has changed drastically. I probably spent about 3 weeks reading the book in my downtime, and I found that it gave me an unbelievably intimate perspective into the history of a family that had to endure tragedy over and over again. Contradicting life lessons are learned by the Sparks brothers, showing how everyone will react differently to tragedy. The story isn't about them travelling the globe, it's about family, and more specifically brotherhood

I agree with the previous post. Such a well done book. Nicholas Sparks is such a good writer and this true story puts you inside his family which is not your usual family down the block. It also hits on some the the great places to visit around the world. I recommend this heartily.
