Publisher Comments:

In South Florida, everyone wants to get a head. But not just any head. A very famous human head — severed and snugged away in a cryonic container. A head that could spark a revolution and change the course of history.
Everybody wants a piece of the noggin: rotund gangster Big Joey G., 102-year-old environmentalist, hard-boiled Miami reporter Britt Montero, lawyer Jake Lassiter, and a would-be dictator in exile — with ex-president Jimmy Carter and a lovable manatee named Booger thrown in for good measure.
With bodies piling up it's anybody's guess what will happen from one chapter to the next, as an all-star line-up of Florida's finest writers take turns at taking this outrageously original novel to the limit — and beyond.

Synopsis:

A who's who of South Florida's funkiest storytellers — including the bestselling authors of Strip Tease, Get Shorty, and Buzz Cut — took turns crafting this edgy, irresistible crimecaper. There's no telling what will happen from one chapter to the next as a motley crew of heroes, heroines, villains, and victims try to one-up and bump off each other in a dangerous and deadly race to get a head — a missing human head that could change history! %

First of all let me confess to a literary bias having avidly devour most of the works of Elmore Leonard, Dave Barry and Carl Hiassan because I regularly find their respective works unputdownable. I must also similarly confess, I wasn't at all disappointed by this intoxicating group endeavor. Certainly, it's true to form southern Florida crime writing at its arguable best (is this a non-sequitur?), however, the real surprise is the genuine treat derived from reading a deftly crafted group narrative which benefits exponentially from the palpable literary synergy of distinct, multiple voices. By far and away, the chapter where the 102 year old unforgettable grandmother, one of the oldest things in Florida, uses the sea as her personal zen magic aqua ride is alone worth the ticket price. A lifelong ocean swimmer from the South Jersy seacoast, I thrilled to the resonnance of this superlative writing and found it immeasurably enhanced and embellished this top flight satirical thriller. I still love my crime guys, and no offense intended, but, in my humble opinion this group narrative far surpasses many of their individual efforts. NCTM Crew Kudos!!
