Michelle Wildgen: IMG A Few Initial and Not-Comprehensive Meditations on Group Novels

I am a sucker for a book about a group. What reminded me of this was Joanna Smith Rakoff's A Fortunate Age, her homage to Mary McCarthy's endlessly re-readable... Continue »

What pregnant Mom didn't feel a few sharp pains upon learning the truth of Rosemary's little bundle of Hell? For that matter, what men didn't also feel a twitch or two? A book that strikes at our origins ? the womb ? and convinces us no place is safe.

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

The young couple. The new neighbors. The suicide. The amulet. The doctor. The herbs. The anagram. The baby.Rosemary's Baby.

In 1967, when Rosemary's Baby was first published, Ira Levin's masterpiece gave horror an innocent new face. It caused a worldwide sensation, found fear where we never thought to look before, and dared to bring it into the sunlight. Now, Rosemary's Baby is back to terrify a whole new generation of readers.

Synopsis:

Rosemary and Guy Woodhouse, an ordinary young couple, settle into a New York City apartment, unaware that the elderly neighbors and their bizarre group of friends have taken a disturbing interest in them. But by the time Rosemary discovers the horrifying truth, it may be far too late! Published to coincide with Ira Levin's September Dutton hardcover sequel, "Son of Rosemary".

This book is stomach churning, but in a good way. Although unsettling, it is by far one of my favorite horror books. However, The Exorcist still takes the cake.
