Publisher Comments:

If ever there was a time when I felt that 'watcher-of-the-skies-when-a-new-planet' stuff, it was when I read the first Flashman."– P.G. Wodehouse

Fraser revives Flashman, a caddish bully from Tom Brown's Schooldays by Thomas Hughes, and relates Flashmans adventures after he is expelled in drunken disgrace from Rugby school in the late 1830s. Flashy enlists in the Eleventh Light Dragoons and is promptly sent to India and Afghanistan, where despite his consistently cowardly behavior he always manages to come out on top. Flashman is an incorrigible anti-hero for the ages. This humorous adventure book will appeal to fans of historical fiction, military fiction, and British history as well as to fans of Clive Cussler, James Bond, and The Three Musketeers.

Flashman is the first book of the famous “Flashman Papers” series.

Synopsis:

The story of what happened to Flashman, the caddish bully of "Tom Brown's Schooldays", after he was expelled in drunken disgrace from Rugby school in the late 1830s. The author has written several books about Flashman, and books of short stories, including "The General Danced at Dawn".

If you haven't discovered Flashman-19th century English soldier, adventurer, coward, cad, mountebank, & lothario-this is the summer to do it. Flashman finds himself, usually unwittingly, in some of history's most famous battles (charge of the light brigade, Sepoy mutiny, U.S. Civil War) and emerges, despite himself, victorious. Presented as Flashman's "memoirs," this smashing series of books is written with great gusto, verve, detail, and sardonic wit. The "Flashman" novels (12 at last count) are both great fun and historically informative. Think a sort of combination of James Bond, Falstaff, and Black Adder, with more sex. Good show!
