I was hesitant at first to read a book that seems to promise a significant shift in the way one feels. It was strongly recommended to me so I checked it out, but had low expectations.

This book is actually pretty amazing! The main subject is about cognitive distortions - how we have automatic, negative thoughts without necessarily being aware of them. There are practical tools in this book to increase your awareness of these cognitive distortions and also how to untwist your thinking. Not everything in here resonates with me (there are a lot of examples of thoughts and behaviors - you can't have them *all*) but overall I have found this book to have a significant, positive effect on depression and anxiety.

You still have to do the work though. ;)
