Marvin Stacks, September 23, 2013 (view all comments by Marvin Stacks)
Having been born and raised in Natchez, Mississippi (oldest establishment on the Mississippi river, 1716) I found this collection of photographs most interesting. There are a lot of photos of Natchez, MS. in this book and I ran across one of the river steamboats my father, William Clement Stacks, Sr. worked on as a steam and diesel engineer, the Betsy Ann. Another boat he worked on is not pictured, the Florence. This is a collection of photos that shows how the people lived and, in a way, their hopes and dreams. This book is one of the best collection of photos and comments I have seen about the Mississippi river. Some one needs to make a photo history of modern day river traffic on the Mississippi and the towns and the cities along it course.
