Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

There are a lot of monsters in Anita Blake's life. And some of them are human. One such individual is the man she calls Edward, a bounty hunter who specializes in the preternatural. He calls her to help him hunt down the greatest evil she has ever encountered. Something that kills and maims and vanishes into the night. Something Anita will have to face alone...

Anita loves both a werewolf and a vampire; however, she has stubbornly refused to see either one of them for over the past year because she is frightened of giving herself to either of them due to their species. Edward (Death) calls in his favour, asking for her help with a preternatural creature like none he has ever encountered before, people have been found slaughtered and no one is sure who or what is behind all of the carnage. Obsidian Butterfly is the Master of his City, and could be a potential suspect, or at least have information regarding the perpetrator of the crime and they need Anita's preternatural expertise to deal with her. Anita needs no persuasion to run to Santa Fe to escape her problems and help out. Edward also has a bombshell to drop Anita's way; you won't believe it till you see it! It was such a pleasant change to read a book that was all about the furtive Edward, getting a glimpse into what really makes him tick, though at the same time he remains the shadowy, sinister character he has always been, whilst he appears to have a secret human side after all, I look forward to seeing more of Edward in the future. This is one of the best series I've ever read and recommend it to anyone. I do suggest that the previous books should be read in order to provide a better understanding of the series.

Have to read it and find out for yourself.
