Second Sight, Janyne Ann Krentz, (Writing as Amanda Quick)

Set in the Victorian Age, this captivating book begins as ancient artifacts are photographed, for a secret society, by a single woman. Knowing her romantic prospects are bleak, due to her age and financial burden of caring for her family robbed of their inheritance, our protagonist seduces a man to experience one night of passion.

Imagine her surprise when she reads a death notice that would mean he died that very night in a fire. Feigning to be his widow, she assumes his last name and moves her family to London to open a photo gallery. It is her belief that she will be better accepted in the Victorian business world if she is believed to be a widow with a tragic tale.

Her second shock comes when she reads that her “husband” has awakened from amnesia and has just arrived in London to resume life with his bride. Little does she know that her ruse could kill her and the family she seeks to protect. This pranormal, romantic, adventure is hard to stop reading.
