Happy Valentine's Day, Curious George! (Curious George Green Light Reader - Level 1)by Margaret Rey
Synopses & ReviewsPublisher Comments:George and his friends celebrate Valentines Day with decorating, baking, card making and some unexpected hilarity along the way! Just how much mischief can a curious little monkey get into when balloons, frosting, and glitter are involved? Fold-out flaps on each scene reveal lively surprises in this humorous celebration of friendship. Sparkly red foil shines on the cover and throughout the book. Review:"As George and friends decorate for Valentine's Day, foldout flaps reveal the upshots of George's curiosity. George tests to see how big his heart-shaped balloon can get (under the flap, the balloon explodes, 'pop!'), juggles three tubes of cookie icing, and experiments with a big box of decorations. Fans should appreciate Young's illustrations, in classic Rey style, which are tweaked with red foil accents and interactive features. Ages 3 — 7. (Jan.)" Publishers Weekly (Copyright PWyxz LLC)
About the AuthorHans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he studied philology and natural science at the University of Hamburg. He then married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in many languages, including French, German, Japanese, Afrikaans, and Norwegian. Additional Curious George books followed, as well as such other favorites as CECILY G. AND THE NINE MONKEYS and FIND THE CONSTELLATIONS.
