Publisher Comments:

Sheehan's tragic biography of John Paul Vann is also a sweeping history of America's seduction, entrapment and disillusionment in Vietnam.

This is one of the best books on the Vietnam War. This history is intertwinned with the life of John Paul Vann, a US military advisor. Vann was very outspoken in his views about how the war was being fought and would ultimately be lost if tactics didn't change.
