Publisher Comments:

Skinny Bitches can bake their cake — and eat it too!

Quit your bitching — they've heard you already! You read Skinny Bitch and it totally rocked your world. Now you want to know, "What can I cook that's good for me, but doesn't taste like crap?" Well, lucky for you, the Bitches are on the case. Self-proclaimed pigs, Rory and Kim understand all too well: Life without lasagna isn't a life worth living; chocolate cake is vital to our survival; and no one can live without mac 'n cheese — no one. So can you keep to your SB standards and eat like a whale? Shit yeah, bitches. To prove it, Rory and Kim came up with some kick-ass recipes for every craving there is:

  • Bitchin' Breakfasts
  • PMS (Pissy Mood Snacks)
  • Sassy Soups and Stews
  • Grown-up Appetizers
  • Comfort Cookin'
  • Hearty Ass Sandwiches
  • Happy Endings (Desserts)
And a ton more! They are all so good (and easy to make) you're gonna freak out. Seriously. What are you waiting for? Get your skinny ass in the kitchen!

Review:

"The follow-up to bestselling diet guide Skinny Bitch, this irreverent cookbook orders readers to toss out all their meat, eggs and dairy, and make room for nutritional yeast, seitan and something called 'Bragg's Liquid Aminos' (although soy sauce will do in a pinch). The authors' philosophy is simple but rigid: in order to be skinny, one must also be vegan (and, preferably, willing to give up coffee and white sugar). Not to despair-the svelte can eat all the tofu-based fake meat and cheese they want, and follow it up with dessert-alikes such as Bitchtastic Brownies or Cheezecake. For the most part, recipes are easy and inoffensive; while a 'Chicken' Parmesan Panini will fool nobody, other offerings, like Japanese Soba Noodles with Steamed Vegetables and Tofu, are perfectly satisfying. But to enjoy this cookbook in full, a reader must be content to be addressed (repeatedly) as 'bitch,' as in, 'Who's a boring old fart now, bitch?' Confusingly, there's no nutritional information for any of the recipes, nor is there any information on the specific dietary needs of vegans-apparently, you'll need to buy Freedman and Barnouin's first book for that. (For those who haven't tried, switching to a vegan diet is difficult even with a proper guide; this book's complete lack of support should make it a real bitch.)" Publishers Weekly (Copyright Reed Business Information, Inc.)

Review:

"The authors are not lab-coated diet docs; they talk girlfriend to girlfriend with potty-mouthed candor....Despite Skinny Bitch's flip, earthy tone, the authors are dead serious about changing what people eat by making veganism hip." USA Today

About the Author

Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin started a movement when they wrote their bestselling manifesto, Skinny Bitch. Both a wake-up call and a kick in the ass, Skinny Bitch exposed the horrors of the food industry while inspiring people to eat well and enjoy food.

Switching to a vegan diet is NOT difficult - but like anything worthwhile in life, it does take a little effort! With a little research on food ingredients (you need to know what casein and whey are for starters) and a commitment to label-reading, you'll be on your way to a healthier diet (better for you AND the planet!). If you feel overwhelmed by cutting out all animal products at once, focus on one group at a time. First, stop eating flesh (and this includes seafood - a fish is not a plant, is it?!). Next, cut out eggs, then drop the dairy. Taking it one step at a time will virtually guarantee success. Once you drop the animal products you will feel so good you won't want to go back to eating that crap. Promise!
