But the condition attached to her largesse, which the locals learn of only after they are enmeshed, is murder. Dürrenmatt has fashioned a macabre and entertaining parable that is a scathing indictment of the power of greed.

This book is absolutely spectacular! We had to read it in class in 11th grade and I actually had fun reading it. It's very funny and it really addresses a lot of important issues in society. It's great and easy to read!
