Publisher Comments:

Galvin depicts the 100-year history of a meadow in the arid mountains of the Colorado/Wyoming border. He describes the seasons, weather, wildlife, and the few people who do not possess but are themselves possessed by this terrain. "Galvin blends fiction and fact into a haunting story . . . (a) careful, honest, and passionate exploration. . . ".--The New York Times Book Review.

One of the most beautifully crafted stories I have read in years, this picture of lives, both wild and human along the Colorado/Wyoming border is stunning. I feel simultaneouly compelled to share it, yet I'm unwilling to part with it - I'm afraid it wouldn't come home! It will touch your heart, and turn your mind to older and wiser ways of being. It is haunting and powerful food for the soul.
