About the AuthorBetsy Lewin has illustrated more than fifty books for children, some of which she wrote as well. Among her work is the successful Dumpy La Rue, written by Elizabeth Winthrop, and the popular A Houseful of Christmas, written by Barbara Joosse. Ms. Lewin is the illustrator of the Caldecott Honor Book Click, Clack, Moo written by Doreen Cronin. Cat Count was originally published in 1981 with black-and-white illustrations. Between trips to exotic places to do research for their books, Betsy Lewin and her husband, artist Ted Lewin, live in Brooklyn, New York.
