Fortunes Folly was excellent. And truly amazing when you consider it is the first book by this author. Ms. Fagan has a true gift for characterization and setting. And her story structure is complex enough to be interesting and clever, but not so much that her audience (young adult) will be confused by it. This is a testament to her outstanding skill at writing to her intended audience - not a commentary on her limitations. Indeed, I feel she has very little - if any - limit to her writing ability. I'd recommend this book highly to both adult and young adult. A quick read for those (like myself) who are used to reading 600-1000 page tomes on a regular basis.
I'll be reading this one to my daughter for sure! And enjoying it just as much.
