A- Z of Horse Diseases & Health Problems Cover

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

The A–Z of Horse Diseases and Health Problems is a book for breeders, studmasters, trainers, grooms, riders, pony club members — in fact anybody who owns or works with horses. It helps them to recognize the signs of illness and to identify the problem. It provides them with ready access to information so that they can help a horse recover when it is distressed or not well; know when to call the veterinarian; apply first aid or begin the right treatment. Tim Hawcroft draws on his specialist veterinary knowledge and years of experience in working with horses to describe the most common and easily recognizable illnesses and accidents that a horse may suffer. He provides full details of signs of disease, causes and treatments. There is an A–Z section on signs of the disease and diagnosis and another for causes and treatment, and each area is illustrated by color photographs of what to look for. Chapters on first aid and on the features of the healthy horse are also included. This easy-to-use comprehensive guide is an invaluable reference book which can be used on the spot, simply and quickly, by both novice and expert.

Book News Annotation:

This book is organized to enable the reader to spot disease symptoms in their early stages and to respond with the most appropriate treatment. Based on the signs observed, the reader is guided to additional signs and possible diagnoses, background causes, and treatments. Each disorder is accompanied by a descriptive color photograph. The detailed index gives quick access, and the handy trim size makes the book a practical diagnostic reference in the stable, on the trail, or in competition.
