Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

The First Forest is lyrically written tale that tells what happens when greed enters the very first, perfect forest and spoils the trees' beauty and peace. Cover to cover full-color art brings the story to life as the gentle fable soft-sells a lesson on the consequences of selfishness and the joy of caring about others. A perennial favorite with children, parents, and educators, The First Forest has been accepted and recommended for direct and supplementary classroom use by teachers in dealing with conflict resolution, environmental issues, and respect for self and others. Michigan and New York reviews place The First Forest alongside Charlotte's Web, The Velveteen Rabbit, The Giving Tree, and other classics.

Synopsis:

"If you wonder in winter . . . So begins this lyrically written Read, America! Classic, which delights children and adults as it tells what happens in the very first, perfect forest. Cover-to-cover full-color art brings the story to life as the gentle fable soft-sells a lesson on the joy of caring about others. "The book relays the value of both concern for each other and for the environment."--"Publishers Weekly"

I loved reading this book to my daughter when she was small--but we lost our copy during one of our militray moves, but this book is very very good, the outword message is how some trees loose their leaves and others do not....the other message is about greed and how you need to put yourself above that and not let it effect your life. this is a great book. just wish we still had our copy
