Jesse Bullington: IMG Abash'd the Devil Stood

I don't believe in evil. It's a word I use, certainly, because words are shortcuts and we all take the short way round from time to time, but that's... Continue »

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

A perfect blend of humor and drama, Y: The Last Man: One Small Step is a fascinating tale of catastrophe and consequences. After a mysterious occurrence instantaneously killed every male human on Earth, twenty-something escape artist Yorick Brown suddenly found himself as the last man alive on a planet inhabited solely by females. But when Yorick and his secret service bodyguard learn of a Russian spaceship with two healthy males onboard, they quickly journey to its projected landing site in Kansas to see if the rumor is true. Now as Yorick and Agent 355 wait to see if the cosmonauts will survive their return to Earth's atmosphere, a zealous faction of the Israeli military attempt to kidnap the last man for their own nefarious purposes. Suggested for mature readers.

Review:

"Here's yet another manga-style 'fantasy romance' in the tradition of Oh My Goddess....Generic art and confusing storytelling don't help this by-the-numbers tale." Publishers Weekly

Review:

"...Yorick's odyssey ends with a surprise as nasty as the Cycles surprise was hopeful....[D]rawn by a different, slightly more polished artist than the main story's Pia Guerra, it is every bit as well written by Vaughan." Booklist

Another great chapter in the Y: The Last Man series of graphic novels. Yorick (the only man left on Earth) and the rest of their motley crew continue their trek across the U.S., pursued by several groups that want Yorick for their own ends. They are sidetracked when they learn that the astronauts from a space station that was in orbit during the plague are about to make landfall in Kansas -- and there just might be two living men among them.
