Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Latina Ivy League grad Milagro de Los Santos can't find her place in the world or a man to go with it. Then one night, at a book party for her pretentious ex-boyfriend, she meets an oddly attractive man. After she is bitten while kissing him, she falls ill and is squirreled away to his family's estate to recover. Vampires don't exist in this day and age — or do they? As Milagro falls for a fabulously inappropriate man, she finds herself caught between a family who has accepted her as one of their own and a shady organization that refuses to let the undead live and love in peace.

Review:

"Marta Acosta's vampire story reads like a comedy of manners with fangs, or perhaps a rancho romance with bite, but either way, her narrator Milagro brings a spicy Latina voice to a genre that is in dire need of some new blood." Christopher Moore, author of Bloodsucking Fiends and NY Times Bestseller A Dirty Job

Review:

"Stunning, darkly hilarious...Acosta flings every vampire cliché out the window. You'd have to be undead not to enjoy this book!" Julia Spencer-Fleming, author of To Darkness And To Death

Review:

"A cross between Bridget Jones's Diary and Interview with a Vampire." Latina Magazine

Review:

"A fun, snappy read for romantic fantasy fans." Booklist

Synopsis:

Acosta delivers a hilarious and sexy paranormal novel about a Latina young woman who finds love and acceptance among a family of sophisticated vampires.

Hilarious and touching story about feisty, funny Milagro De Los Santos, a girl who can't seem to get a break. She's got a degree from a Fancy University (F.U.), but has terrible jobs, a terrible apartment, and terrible parents.

When she goes to a book party for her big money ex-boyfriend, he shuns her. Milagro leaves with an attractive guest, Oswald, who says he's in publishing. A few passionate kisses later and there's an accidental exchange of blood. Milagro gets sick, really sick, weird sick. Craving raw meat sick.

Her ex tries to kidnap Milagro, claiming she's infected with "vampirism." She's forced to hide out with Oswald's family at their country house. They think she's a golddigger and she's wondering, are vampires real? As for Oswald, oh, he forgot to tell her that he's engaged to a beautiful and accomplished doctor.

Fast-moving, well written, laugh out loud funny, sexy, and moving. I wanted to hang out with Milagro and the whole vampire family.
