I really enjoyed this book, it was an interesting take on magic and dysfunctional families. I listened to the second book "Red Glove" as an audiobook and it worked that way, too.

The first book in this promising series of the curse workers; The White Cat managed to leave me both most satisfied and utterly frustrated. After having read the spiderwick-series as a child I have a love for Holly Black's writing skills and this book did not dissapoint. I love the random beginning with the maincharacter finding himself at the top of a roof and from there it just gets better. It's an intruging story which never turns to be boring with an ending that leaves the reader beggimg for more, hence the frustration of having to wait for the next book. Simply, it is a perfect read although a little too quickly digested.
