Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Amusing and informative, Hey Ranger! teaches as it entertains with tales of boat ramp misadventures, lost Afghani campers, encounters with wild animals, dumb crooks, and more. A chapter, "Tales from the Wild Side," brings together unusual incidents from NPS reports, and a concluding essay, "Don't Be a Victim of Your Vacation," advises visitors on how to avoid being a story on the evening news.

Synopsis:

In his thirty years with the National Park Service, Jim Burnett has seen it all: boat ramp mishaps that have sent cars into the water; skunks in the outhouse and bears at the dumpser; visitors looking for the bridge over the Grand Canyon.

This book is a scream! It's full of good, clean stories of people doing silly things in the park system, and the trials and tribulations of the park rangers. It concludes with some good, common sense advice on how to be prepared for emergencies and avoid ruining your vacation.
