Richelle Mead did a fantastic job with her final book in the Vampire Academy Novels, Last Sacrifice. The storyline picks up right where Spirit Bound left off. Richelle tells the story of what happened when Rose was taken away by the Guardians. She also mesmerizes you with the love triangle between Rose, Adrian and Dimitri.

If you’ve come to know and love the characters in this series like I have, make sure you read this one. Richelle outdid herself. Last Sacrifice is my favorite thus far and that’s saying something since I adore the entire series. She has a way of pulling you into the book and making you feel like the characters are real.

Obviously this is a YA and teen series, but I have to tell you that I’m neither of these and can’t seem to get enough. I guess it’s possible that I’m living vicariously through their lives, but more than likely, it’s just because Richelle knows her stuff!

My opinion is that if you haven’t started reading A Vampire Academy series, that you do so NOW. You will not be disappointed. My favorite part in Last Sacrifice is….(eeeek) Dimitri. (I won’t risk saying anything more for the fear of giving too much away!) However, I will say that most of the ending was predictable. MOST of it. Even with that being said, I’m pleased with the outcome. Our characters are evolving and growing up and the change in them is obvious. I really think Richelle did a great job with the finality of the series.

While I look forward to reading Bloodlines, I’m going to miss this series. It’s bittersweet. I know change is necessary in order to continue with progress, but I imagine that I’ll revisit these books many times over.

This book was definitley worth the time to read and enjoy. Action packed and a tremendous amount of suspense and surprise. The ending was unexpected, but the book was to circled around one certain event, making it somewhat lagging. But all in all, a fantastically written book.

I am usually disappointed with the last book in a series. Authors tend to give you a sence that the characters will have many more adventures, and you are going to miss out, or they leave you with too many loose ends, too many questions. I was extremely pleased with Richellle Mead, and the end of The Vampire Academy series. She did not try to cram everything into a happy ending box and tie it up with an ill fitting bow. What she did provide is an excellent end to the series, answers to all my questions, enough plot that you feel the characters will live on, but she ended it in a way that I am ok with a beloved serie ending. I have thoroughly enjoyed the entire series, and recommend it to all my friends looking for a young adult fantasy series that is good all the way till the end.
