Bauknin, June 28, 2009 (view all comments by Bauknin)
If you are an activist dealing with the media in a racial justice capacity (in other words, you expose racism where you find it), this book should be required reading. It presents ideas and ways to go about dealing with the media to ensure your message isn't diluted or twisted. For that alone it is invaluable. If you aren't an activist dealing with the media, this book has little to offer. That's not to say it is unworthy of reading, however.

For non-activist types who are still cognizant to race issues, the sections dealing with how the media covered events like hurricane Katrina will prove insightful and interesting. You could skip the rest of the book and this section alone would be well worth your time.
