About the Author
Haruki Murakami was born in Kyoto in 1949 and now lives near Tokyo. The most recent of his many honors is the Yomiuri Literary Prize, whose previous recipients include Yukio Mishima, Kenzaburo Oe, and Kobo Abe. He is the author of the novels Dance, Dance, Dance; The Wind-up Bird Chronicle; A Wild Sheep Chase; South of the Border, West of the Sun; and Sputnik Sweetheart; of The Elephant Vanishes, a collection of stories; and of Underground, a work of non-fiction. His work has been translated into fourteen languages.

A great, albeit wordy read. Haruki delves into the potential of the human brain in a beautifully composed novel that presents even the entirely fantastical elements in a way that makes it perfectly acceptable.
A wonderful read for anyone in search for a scientific action-adventure with a fantasy atmosphere, written in a very raw, unbiased style. I would also recommend it for older readers. Haruki is a very unique and wonderful author.

This was my introduction to Murakami. After becoming immersed in his dream-reality, I would put the book down and go about my life as though my life was unreal and the book was reality. He was a way of making his words seem more solid than the people around you. The plot is secondary to the characters and their lives. Pure Magic.
