While this book is written from a Christian perspective, I recommend it to any woman I know who's struggling with any midlife crisis issue. Both intelligent and comforting, the book has no equal in this type of literature. While it never trivializes the subject of feeling lost or suddenly uprooted "in the middle of life's path", Kidd's book is amazingly down to earth and honest. It speaks to the heart. I loved the book so much, I keep checking back to see if the author has written more. Would love to see more of her work!

Susan Monk Kidd always writes to the weakest of us. We can find ourselves in her struggles...thank goodness!

Sue Monk Kidd writes about her midlife spiritual crisis when everything around her had lost its meaning. She found that there was no easy or quick fix; she needed to engage in contemplative waiting. She compares this process to the life span of a butterfly -- how it must first spend time in its cocoon before emerging as a beautiful butterfly.

I began to understand that I have been in a period of contemplative waiting for many years. Years in which nothing seemed to happen. But I know that God has been using this waiting period to refine me. Reading this book gave me the strength move forward.
