Mira Grant (a pen name of urban fantasy author Seanan McGuire) put together the perfect conclusion for her post-zombie apocalypse political thriller trilogy. More than just another one of the flood of zombie books this year, Blackout completes a look at an America adapted to a world under siege by the disease that created the zombie rising and the revelation of political forces that would exploit that threat to their own ends and benefit. Grant brings together horror thrills and chills with political conspiracy, along with a fluid, exciting writing style, to create a great adventure in an innovative, well-thought out setting.

An amazing and often terrifying wrap up to a wonderful series. Science is misused, government is blackmailed, bad shit happens to good people all in the name of control. It often feels like an exaggeration of today's politics (in a good way) with a heaping helping of action adventure and snark thrown in for good measure.
