Michelle Wildgen: IMG A Few Initial and Not-Comprehensive Meditations on Group Novels

I am a sucker for a book about a group. What reminded me of this was Joanna Smith Rakoff's A Fortunate Age, her homage to Mary McCarthy's endlessly re-readable... Continue »

I got this for a friend for his work as a botanist. He says it should come with a cover for use in the field, nonetheless it is excellent. He hikes Humboldt County, CA looking for rare plants and he says it comes in handy. We would recommend this book to people living in or visiting the Pac NW Coastal areas or interested in unique and distinct plant communities. It is easy to use and it has a lot of pictures. It could also be used for someone who is studying plants as a reference manual. I went to the local store looking for it but couldn't find it, so I just bought it here at Powell's; the best book store ever.

I think Pojar is the best feild guide I have ever used. My teachers have it and when we are on the trail we can identify almost any thing in under a minute. It helps that it was made for the exact area that I live in, and I plan on getting it soon!
