Mary's father was a sea captain. He took long trips across the ocean in his ship. From her window Mary waved good-by when he sailed away, and she waved hello to him when came sailing back. Six times he came back with a doll for Mary, so she had six dolls from six different countries. One for each day of the week but Sunday. A dollmaker crafts a seventh doll for her and she must wait for seven days for her new doll to be finished. Oh, will it be a surprise!
Review:
"[Y]oung Mary, whose sea captain father has, over many journeys, given his daughter six dolls from all over the world. But Mary yearns for a seventh, so she'll have a doll for each day of the week. How she gets her 'Sunday doll' makes for gentle suspense." Publishers Weekly
