Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Rusty starts out as an ordinary house kitten, but his travels deep into the forest involve him in the epic battles of the cat warrior clans who roam (and rule) the wild. With a new name — Firepaw — and a position as a ThunderClan apprentice, our feline hero faces his destiny, struggles with issues of friendship, honour, courage, and betrayal, and learns what it truly means to be a warrior.

Review:

"[T]he first exciting installment....Certain to please any young reader who has ever wondered what dreams of grandeur may haunt the family cat." Publishers Weekly

Review:

"Hunter debuts with a suspenseful animal adventure that will leave readers eyeing Puss a bit nervously....Teen readers will readily identify with Firepaw's strenuous efforts to fit into the group...and rejoice at the promised sequel." Kirkus Reviews

Review:

"[S]pine-tingling....Intelligence notwithstanding, the cat characters are true to their feline nature, making this sure to appeal to fans of Clare Bell's long-popular Ratha's Creature (1983)...and also to followers of Brian Jacques' ongoing Redwall series." Booklist

Review:

"The author has created an intriguing world with an intricate structure and mythology, and an engaging young hero....This is not as elegantly written as Brian Jacques's Redwall series, but it's another option for fans of animal adventure/fantasy stories." School Library Journal

Synopsis:

Fire alone can save our clan...

For generations, four Clans of wild cats have shared the forest according to the laws laid down by their warrior ancestors. But the ThunderClan cats are in grave danger, and the sinister ShadowClan grows stronger every day. Noble warriors are dying — and some deaths are more mysterious than others.

In the midst of this turmoil appears an ordinary house cat named Rusty...who may turn out to be the bravest warrior of them all.

This is such an excellent book-exciting, gripping and fast moving, Erin Hunter book Into the Wild reads like perfection. The series is equal to Brian Jacques redwall and a hundred times better than Varjak Paw. It is totally worth reading and there are so many books in this series, they will keep you going for ages, and you won't have to wait for them to come out, and they are all just as excellent as the first book, if not better. A brilliant buy. Happy reading!
