Publisher Comments:

Since the author is a psychologist with impeccable credentials, she is able to deliver on the the promise of the title of the book, basically how to keep a love of culture alive. I have had the same situation with are kids. Luckily we succeeded; I think, in part, because we worked on maintaining their fluency in Spanish at the same time. The language in itself increases the kids' self esteem. We document this in a brief account of our experience in the document comospan.htm in the domain http://www.LeerEsPoder.com. Sorry we had to break it up this way; it is a Powell's rule for comments.
We found that kids enjoy singing and reciting as they learn Spanish. Even if they mouth nonsense that sounds like Spanish, they are learning the intonation of the language and it is a basis for further learning. Why do some people read translations when they know the original language.
