Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

For the first time in the history of the Little House books, this new edition features Garth Williams’ interior art in vibrant, full color, as well as a beautifully redesigned cover.

The adventures of Laura Ingalls and her family continue as Pa, Ma, Laura, Mary, Carrie, and little Grace bravely face the hard winter of 1880-81 in their little house in the Dakota Territory. Blizzards cover the little town with snow, cutting off all supplies from the outside. Soon there is almost no food left, so young Almanzo Wilder and a friend make a dangerous trip across the prairie to find some wheat. Finally a joyous Christmas is celebrated in a very unusual way in this most exciting of all the Little House books.

Synopsis:

LITTLE HOUSE. BIG ADVENTURE: A fresh, photographic repackage of the original Little House books just in time for the series? 75th anniversary.

Synopsis:

The town of De Smet is hit with terrible, howling blizzards and Laura and her family must ration their food and coal. When the supply train doesn't arrive, Almanzo Wilder and his brother realize something must be done. They begin an impossible journey in search of provisions, before it's too late.

My 5 year old and I are now reading this 6th book in the Laura Ingalls Wilder series. We read a chapter or two every evening, and my little guy can't wait to find out what happens next. Will Pa get caught in the blizzard? Will the train ever come to replenish supplies in town? Laura's tales are detailed, descriptive and engaging. Reading about how these hearty pioneers survive the numerous blizzards of the long winter, we truly appreciate our modern conveniences. We also feel like part of the Ingalls family.
