Inventive, amusing, magnetic, sad, and alive with unforgettable men and women — brimming with truth, compassion, and a lyrical magic that strikes the soul — this novel is a masterpiece in the art of fiction.

Difficult, challenging at times to follow the characters many of whom have very similar names; well worth the effort, he was deserving of the Nobel in Literature. A good introduction to his work would be “Love in the Time of Cholera”, not nearly as depressing as it sounds, the very epitome of magical realism.

This is a beautiful book. Wonderfully written, I felt fully involved with the characters, the time, and the town. I didn’t want the book to end.
