Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

In the blink of an eye. Everyone disappears. GONE.

Except for the young. Teens. Middle schoolers. Toddlers. But not one single adult. No teachers, no cops, no doctors, no parents. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what's happened.

Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents—unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers—that grow stronger by the day.

It's a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen, a fight is shaping up. Townies against rich kids. Bullies against the weak. Powerful against powerless. And time is running out: On your birthday, you disappear just like everyone else...

Review:

"This intense, marvelously plotted, paced, and characterized story will immediately garner comparisons to Lord of the Flies, or even the long-playing world shifts of Stephen King, with just a dash of X-Men for good measure. A potent mix of action and thoughtfulness — centered around good and evil, courage and cowardice — renders this a tour-de-force that will leave readers dazed, disturbed, and utterly breathless. Grant’s novel is presumably the first in a series, and while many will want to scream when they find out the end is not the end, they’ll be glad there’s more in store." Booklist

Synopsis:

In a flash, your life can change forever...

Something bizarre has happened in the town of San Perdido. In a flash, everyone over the age of fourteen has disappeared. Poof. Gone. A strange impenetrable force field encircles the town, and as the stranded kids struggle to survive on their own, they discover that some of them are developing new talents — unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers — that grow stronger by the day. And unfortunately, not all the kids with these new-found powers are good…

GONE is definately the best book I have ever read in my whole life. I've only been living a short 14 years but i've till never read a book this great. I'm not a big fan of reading either, so if a book can keep me reading for over 4 hours at a time, you know its a great book. I'd be asked to do something by someone and I would just say "Nah, I'm to into this." GONE is truly a well written novel and the book really ties the reader in with each character. As for myself I at one point was ready to go into the book and blast Drake's head off because I was getting mad with how well he was written as a heartless person. This book was amazing and I think it should be put into theatres soon.
