These volumes, The Dangerous Book for Boys and The Daring Book for Girls, are utterly brimming with tips, tools, maps, pictograms, glossaries, advice, game rules, blueprints... you name it! They're fantastic guidebooks for kids. And, truth be told, I learned a lot, too.

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

The Daring Book for Girls is the manual for everything that girls need to know — and that doesn't mean sewing buttonholes! Whether it's female heroes in history, secret note-passing skills, science projects, friendship bracelets, double dutch, cats cradle, the perfect cartwheel or the eternal mystery of what boys are thinking, this book has it all. But it's not just a guide to giggling at sleepovers — although that's included, of course! Whether readers consider themselves tomboys, girly-girls, or a little bit of both, this book is every girl's invitation to adventure.

Synopsis:

The manual for everything that adventurous girls need to know: from female heroes in history to secret note-passing skills, science projects to friendship bracelets, the perfect cartwheel to the eternal mystery of what boys are thinking.

I have three words. Best. Book. Ever. I LOVE this book. I've had sooo much fun reading it!! My kids love this book to! I love it because it doesn't involve all the electronics of today that seem fun but then become really boring. Plus all of the activities in The Daring Book For Girls cost little to nothing to do!!

This is an excellent book filled with all sorts of things that will appeal to all sorts of girls. There are biographies of famous women, the rules to different sports, how-tos for crafts, letter writing, foreign language lessons, etc. etc. It's fun and informative.

It is however a little lite. Most of the instructions are extrememly basic and if a girl actually wanted to do the described activity she'd probably need to do further reseaerch.

It's also very back to basics, eschewing all electronic technology which is a definite weakness, but it's still a remarkable book encouraging girls to try new things and to break out of their comfort zones.

This is a great book for the gap of generations; moms can share with daughters and grandmoms can share with granddaughters. It is wonderful not only for the information and collection of activities and projects but it inspires learning and starts conversations. There are so many easy projects that can be done alone or with others. During the holiday break we will make a "sit-upon" together and I will share the memories of the time I made my first "sit-upon". The Daring Book for Girls could possibly be one that lasts generations! I'd also recommend reading Tino Georgiou's bestselling novel--The Fates--if you haven't yet
