Publisher Comments:

Say hello to new friends, new business opportunities, new love, and new confidence

Okay, so you're shy. Here are 85 proven techniques to help you conquer your shyness and change your life for good. No psychobabble. No nonsense. These tested "ShyBusters" prepare you for that upcoming party, work function, interview, date, and the rest of your life.

As someone who overcame debilitating shyness herself, professional speaker Leil Lowndes used this method to become a confident woman who has been interviewed on hundreds of TV and radio shows and has spoken to crowds of 10,000. You'll soon be making "fearless conversation" with people who used to intimidate you. You'll learn how to win the love you deserve and ask for whatever you want. You will overcome embarrassing stammering, sweating, clamming up, and wishing you were invisible.

Good-Bye to Shy will show you how to:

  • Make a stronger impression at work, at parties, in any situation
  • Feel more relaxed around people, make eye contact, and spark conversations
  • Boost your career, jump-start your social life, and open your heart to new possibilities

Say Good-Bye to Shy--and hello to the happy, loving, confident person who's been hiding inside you.

Review:

"Many of Lowndes's potential readers may 'shy' away from her relentlessly perky, exclamatory tone and use of terms like Shys (for shy folks) and Sures (for extroverts). Which is too bad, because much of her advice is sensible and based on desensitization techniques, or graduated exposure, therapists use in treating shyness and social phobia. The book is a mixture of confessional by a formerly shy author (How to Make Anyone Fall in Love with You) and no-nonsense guide. Lowndes cites scientific findings, such as that shy people feel continually judged by others at public events, which they remember as more negative than they were. Lowndes advises writing down one's immediate impressions after a social event. 'If you later remember anything negative..., go back and check your notes. If that embarrassing or disappointing moment isn't in your notes, forget it. It didn't happen.' She also offers useful advice, such as how to tolerate holding eye contact with strangers. Chapter titles like 'How to Handle a Past Bummer' seem meant to appeal to younger readers, but the tone clashes with Lowndes's sometimes dated personal stories. Her great eureka — 'I'm not shy anymore' moment takes place in the Playboy Club, where she dons bunny ears." Publishers Weekly (Copyright Reed Business Information, Inc.)
