James Bond travels to the Caribbean to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a secret service team. As he uncovers the astonishing truth about strange energy waves that are interfering with U.S. missile launches, he must battle deadly assassins, sexy femmes fatales, and even a poisonous tarantula. The search takes him to an exotic tropical island, where he meets a beautiful nature girl and discovers the hideout of Doctor No, a six-foot-six madman with a mania for torture, a lust to kill, and a fantastic secret to hide.

About the Author

Ian Fleming (1908–1964), creator of the world's best-known secret agent, is the author of fourteen James Bond books. Born in London in 1908 and educated at Eton and Sandhurst, he became the Reuters Moscow correspondent in 1929. In the spring of 1939, Fleming went back to Moscow as a special correspondent for the London Times. In June of that same year, he joined Naval Intelligence and served throughout World War II, finally earning the rank of Commander, RNVSR (Sp.). Much of the James Bond material was drawn directly from Fleming's experiences as an intelligence officer. Later, Fleming became a consultant on foreign affairs for the London Sunday Times, by which time he had become far better known as the creator of James Bond. Mr. Fleming died August 12, 1964, at the age of fifty-six.

While the plot may be somewhat farfetched, it is a spellbinding plot! It is classic Ian Fleming all the way. With Quarrel & the voluptuous Honeychile by his side, Bond enters the frightening world of the chilling Dr. No. From a nightmarish encounter with a tropical insect that will leave your skin crawling to chapters entitled The Long Scream & Killing Ground that will have you agonizing with James when others would give up & die. (Please note that the pages are numbered in 3 digits so each that each Penguin Book actually has a page numbered "007".CLEVER)
