Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

For fifteen-year-old Haven, life is changing too quickly. She's nearly six feet tall, her father is getting remarried, and her sister — the always perfect Ashley — is planning a wedding of her own. Haven wishes things could just go back to the way they were. Then an old boyfriend of Ashley's reenters the picture, and through him, Haven sees the past for what it really was, and comes to grips with the future.

Review:

"Dessen adds a fresh twist to a traditional sister-of-the-bride story with her keenly observant narrative full of witty ironies. Her combination of unforgettable characters and unexpected events generates hilarity as well as warmth." Publishers Weekly

Review:

"A worthy theme, but the chief attractions here are the appealing cast and droll humor." Kirkus Reviews

Sarah Dessens first novel is probably her best.
That summer describes a teenage girl, who's life is turned upside down, her parents are divorced, her fathers just remarried, her sisters getting married, and on top of that she's almost six feet tall, and she's only 15. But then sumner, her sisters ex boyfriend comes back in town, and he seems to make everything all right for her, until she finds out what really happened that summer years ago when Sumner was in there lives.

I absolutly love the way Dessen makes you feal about being a women. Almost always her characters are independant and strong, the way a women should be.
