This book simply makes me want to build a place from my heart. I love seeing the plan unfold with all the little (or not so little) side roads the author and his architect take before they even get to preparing any earth or materials for the place of his own. My desire to read a book that I can put down and come back to continually without losing the sense of story makes this one of my favorite books of 2011.

I was a little disappointed because I expected more about enjoying the results of the construction of this cabin. This story stops at the point where the construction is complete. The book includes interesting history of architecture, architectural criticism, building materials and construction. Not what I was expecting, but a fun, interesting story. The author's website shows a few more pictures of the completed cabin.
