These magically enchanting words begin the first of twenty-eight timeless tales retold or written by Hans Christian Andersen, Charles Perrault, The Brothers Grimm, and others. Artwork filled with exquisite color and detail brings beautiful princesses, wicked stepmothers, wild swans, and enchanted felines to life on these pages. Children will enjoy hearing such favorites as "Cinderella" and "Puss in Boots," as well as lesser-known tales from Russia, Japan, and other countries. This stunning collection of classic stories is a must for every book enthusiast.
Synopsis:
Once upon a time, Mirror Mirror, a brilliant book of fairy tale themed reversos – a poetic form in which the poem is presented forward and then backward – became a smashing success. Now a second book is here with more witty double takes on well-loved fairy tales such as Thumbelina and The Little Mermaid.
Read these clever poems from top to bottom and they mean one thing. Then reverse the lines and read from bottom to top and they mean something else - it is almost like magic!
A celebration of sight, sound, and story, this book is a marvel to read again and again.

I was given the 1958 edition of this book as a 2 year old girl....I spent countless hours pouring over the illustrations, which still fascinate me at 52 years of age! I have never seen such illustrations in a children's book before....and Adrienne Segur's illustrations still haunt me! When going through my mother's household and packing books, I came across my old copy of this book which was by then, falling apart and in many pieces, but is still treasured! I am seeking an original or a reprint (Golden Books) for my 6 month old granddaughter to cherish. Thanks!

This book was given to me as a Christmas gift about 44 years ago and was one of my nost treasured possessions ! I wish I still I still had the original. I was captivated by the tragic and triumphant stories that were contained between its covers. Just knowing that it is still available in more recent releases warms my heart. It's been many years since I'd read these stories but I remember how they stretched my imagination to bring worlds and creatures to life in such vivid ways for a hungry young reader as I was.
