The Basis for a New Showtime® Original Series Starring Michael C. Hall

(Sundays at 10pm ET/PT - starts Sunday, October 1, 2006 at 10pm ET/PT)

Meet Dexter Morgan, a polite wolf in sheeps clothing. Hes handsome and charming, but something in his past has made him abide by a different set of rules. Hes a serial killer whose one golden rule makes him immensely likeable: he only kills bad people. And his job as a blood splatter expert for the Miami police department puts him in the perfect position to identify his victims. But when a series of brutal murders bearing a striking similarity to his own style start turning up, Dexter is caught between being flattered and being frightened-of himself or some other fiend.

Synopsis:

This is where it all begins for Dexter Morgan, the darkly funny character who is the inspiration for the hit Showtime series. Dexter is a forensics blood-spatter expert for the Miami police department, who is also a serial killer with a golden rule: he only kills bad people.

About the Author

I love the showtime series and so I started the book series, and i don't know which one is better. They are both great. This book made me want to buy the rest of the series...which I did right here at Powell's!

A serial killer who kills murderers...What else could you want in a book? This character is scary real as a smart monster who knows that the best disguise is to have a normal life by day.
The most horrific part of all of is how much you begin to care for the character and root for him as he eludes police suspicions. You tend to hope that he'll never stop as he rids Miami of all of its underbelly scum.
I found him strangely relate-able as he went through his work day, faking many emotions and running through all of the social cues.
