This is one of the best vampire novels since Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire. Although the author wrote the screenplay, too, there's still a lot that didn't find its way into the film. If you read one bloodsucking book this year make sure it's the right one!

Let the Right One In Takes Top Honors at Tribeca Film Festival!

It is autumn 1981 when the inconceivable comes to Blackeberg, a suburb in Sweden. The body of a teenage boy is found, emptied of blood, the murder rumored to be part of a ritual killing. Twelve-year-old Oskar is personally hoping that revenge has come at long last---revenge for the bullying he endures at school, day after day.

But the murder is not the most important thing on his mind. A new girl has moved in next door---a girl who has never seen a Rubiks Cube before, but who can solve it at once. There is something wrong with her, though, something odd. And she only comes out at night. . . .Sweeping top honors at film festivals all over the globe, director Tomas Alfredssons film of Let the Right One In has received the same kind of spectacular raves that have been lavished on the book. American readers of vampire fiction will be thrilled!

About the Author

Bleak, puzzling, at times deliciously frightening, a vampire story with what I take to be a happy ending. On par, for me, with 'Salem's Lot.

Finally, a vampire novel to rival Stoker's Dracula in terms of its complexity and interpretive richness. This is a vampire romance, but not like you've ever seen before; it's by turns sweet and horrifying, and you're never sure who the real monsters are. Lindqvist's writing is pure brilliance. Easily the best novel I read all year.

If you like your love stories bloody and your vampires not wimpy and Emo like some other popular books, then this is the right book for you! It is written with very dark undertones, yet melodic like a haunting lullaby of sorts - the translation was done beautifully so there is no lose in the continuity of the storyline. A wonderful read especially for a cold winter night. Enjoy!
