Publisher Comments:

When a fiery food writer meets a hitman with a heart of gold, all bets are off in this“wildly entertaining” (Seattle Times) novel from bestselling authors Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer.

IF YOU CANT STAND THE HEAT

Agnes Crandalls problems are rolling to a boil. First, a dog-napper invades her kitchen, seriously hampering her attempts to put on a wedding that shes staked her entire net worth on. Then a man climbs through her bedroom window to save her. “Shane” (no last name) may be Agness hero, but hes also a professional hitman—so hes no stranger to trouble himself…

GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN

Between a rival who wants to take him out and an uncle who may have lost five million bucks in Agness basement, Shanes plate is plenty full. Soon Agnes and Shane are tangled up with the lowlifes after the money, a gang of Southern mob wedding guests, a dog named Rhett, and—most dangerous of all—each other.

Agnes and the Hitman is fabulous fun.” —Booklist (Starred review)

While Jennifer Crusie and the Bob Mayer duo are a couple of my favorite authors, this is by far the best one of her books. Hilariously funny...so funny I'd laugh on my train ride to work and cause folks to ask what I was reading. However, it's also got some great heartfelt moments too and the characters in the story have the most lovable quirks. It's can't-put-it-down kind of book.

I don't even like books that fall under the category of "chick-lit" but this was one of the best books I've read in a long time. It's an easy fun escapist jaunt. But fun doesn't even capture it. Laugh out loud on the bus funny covers it. Agnes is a cranky chef trying to cater a southern mob wedding [with more than the usual secrets], when someone tries to dognap her Rhett, and a hitman climbs in her bedroom window to protect her. Chaos runs rampant but instead of being confusing or disjointed you just keep laughing and turning the pages. This is what happens when a romance writer and a green beret write books together.
